Three Women with Colored Hair

If you are new to hair color and unsure of how to get started, here are some tips that will help you choose what’s right for you.

  • Evaluate your needs

Are you low maintenance? Do you live a busy lifestyle? Do you want something permanent? These are all questions to take into consideration since some hair color needs to be touched up every two to six weeks depending on the style. Do you work somewhere conservative? You need to consider whether the color will be appropriate for your work and lifestyle.

  • Bring Lots of Pictures

Visuals speak louder than words. A picture can help a stylist achieve something similar to what you want or even nail it. Never say “do whatever you think looks best”; a stylist may have an opinion about what would look good on you, but your opinion may be different.

  • Choose Colors

Choose colors that compliment your skin tone. This can help you narrow down your choices.

Don’t be scared of change. Coloring your hair is a change that can be dramatic or subtle. Be prepared to embrace and have fun with it.
