There are three main updos that usually updos are built off of. One is the French twist and, in my opinion, is the easiest one. All you do is take the hair pull it straight back and twist the ends in on itself. And remember hide those pins! It’s simple, elegant, and always so beautiful.
The second is chignon, trust me I don’t know how to pronounce it either, but this is more like a bun. It’s a little more complicated but still very easy. You can make a bow chignon which has become very popular, even the Hilton’s wear it!
The last one is the drape. This is probably the most tedious of them all. You have to make a pony tail with only the center half of your hair. Then you take the rest and pin in sections lying across the pony tail in the middle. It turns out pretty, but I don’t think it’s in style any more.
What is always in style is definitely the Marcel waves like they wore in the 20’s and in the Great Gatsby. These are all just basic updos and can certainly become more than the simple elegance they are. They become extravagant, artistic, and creative styles. Besides, when the hair is down, almost every updo that a celebrity wears on the red carpet is taken from one of these designs.
They are all so easy and so buildable which does make it for everyone even if you are not a cosmetologist.
