Bangs are the perfect way to add a hint of something fresh and new to your look. Bangs allow for a change in your appearance without drastically cutting off all of your precious mane. Bangs are fun because there are different ways to style and cut them, depending on if you want an edgy look, a soft look, a dramatic look, etc, etc.
Model with Bangs
A few different types of bangs or fringe include choppy bangs, blunt bangs, wispy bangs, and side-swept bangs to name a few. I will tell you a little bit about each type and how to maintain them.
Choppy bangs are great for most face shapes, and I love them because they are ready to wear. Not too much must be done to style these types of bangs because they are purposely cut asymmetrically, with unevenness to add texture and visual interest. Just add a bit of paste or pommade to create some separation and accentuate the piecey-ness.
Blunt bangs are lovely because they make a statement. A little bit more time must be spent on styling blunt bangs since they are meant to fall into a straight line. Also, those with small or short foreheads should avoid them. To style blunt bangs, make sure they are sufficiently wet. Take your blow-dryer and heat style with a basic comb by blowing the bangs back and forth in opposite directions. This makes sure the bangs fall straight across when they dry, and takes care of any pesky cowlicks in the hair line. If you want more volume, a brush can be used instead of a comb. Mist a minimal amount of light hair spray on your palms, and then gently pat down any stray hairs, making sure not to press bangs onto forehead.
Side swept bangs are a good option because they don’t get too weighed down. Side swept bangs can be worn more as a bang or as a face framing layer, depending on where they are pulled from. They look good on all face shapes. Because of their length, they are very versatile. Side swept bangs also look great pinned back, twisted, and clipped away with a cute barrette. Style with a round brush, using the blow-dryer and brush to feather hair away from face, softly.
Hopefully this gives some insight for the many options that are available to those desiring new fringe!
