Cinta Aveda Institute offers advanced education classes—usually one-day events—for our students, alumni, and other licensed professionals.

    Get Lifted. Allow Aveda Hair Color to enlighten you with its newest product innovation—Enlightener™ Freehand Bond-Strengthening Lightener. In this module, you’ll learn everything you need to know about Enlightener™ Freehand Bond-Strengthening Lightener, including features and benefits, usage guidelines and how to use it to perform your favorite freehand lightening services. You’ll also practice performing Aveda’s new lightwaves technique on your own, with coaching from one of Aveda’s hair color experts.

    Herbal Poultice Full-Body Massage Two-Day Workshop (Day One)

    The Herbal Poultice Full-Body Massage (a.k.a. Luk Pra Kob) is a deep heat therapeutic muscle treatment that dates back to 14th-century Thailand when a hot pack was administered to soldiers returning from battle. The body absorbs the heat, along with the organic herbs to help ease muscle aches & pains, alleviate stiff joints, stimulate circulation, increase lymphatic drainage, detoxify & release stagnant energy in the body. more info.

    Cranial Herbal Poultice Head & Neck Recovery Massage Two-Day Workshop (Day Two)

    The Cranial Herbal Poultice relieves stress where it manifests most on the back, neck, shoulders, face and crown. Keeping with tradition, our comprehensive training program incorporates four massage modalities based on the healing traditions of Thailand. Participants will learn a variety of specialized techniques to achieve a wide range of benefits using the Herbal Poultice, plus a blend of Royal Thai & Aromatherapy Massage, corresponding to specific Sên Points and Sên Meridians to release blocked energy and increase the flow of energy in the body.     Perfecting the Line: Learn How to Perfect One-Length, Graduated, and Layered Lines Michael Forrey

    We will work on precision cutting techniques, with a focus on the outline, essential to a polished cut. We will discover what, why, when and how lines are used and executed, to create a look designed for the individual. The class will incorporate lecture, demo, and an option for hands on practice. In the work session, you will perfect two complete looks using a variety of techniques and shapes, while focusing on the line. This class is ideal for beginning to advanced cutters seeking to perfect their technique and to create laser sharp shapes that are contemporary and versatile. You’ll come away with a better understanding of the products and of the Aveda approach to guest service and effective communication, with more confidence to educate your clients about home care (not to mention a mini-kit of Aveda cult faves).

    In-Tension—Mastering the Art of Tension to Engineer Any Style

    Master styling with in-tension! Create strong, controlled, and light tension to create a total of nine looks in this full day class. Learn how to manipulate hair with various degrees of tension to transition from the classic chignon to the perfect ponytail and everything in between. Participants will receive a Pivot Point “Madi” mannequin head to take home. Learn: Perfect ponytail, Pull apart braid, Marcel waves, French twist, Chignon, Victory roll, and Braiding.

    Ray Civello has been a leader and visionary in the fashion, beauty and wellness industry in Canada for over three decades. Combining creative skill and keen business sensibilities, Civello is a successful entrepreneur, coveted international educator, platform artist, editorial stylist and inspired public speaker.

    Civello began his career as a well-respected and sought after editorial hairstylist in North America and Europe. With this experience he founded his first business Civello Inc. in 1985, which has grown to four successful Civello salons today. In 1994, Civello established Collega International, which is the only national distributor for Aveda products in Canada and the parent company of five Aveda Institute and Academy Salons nationwide, and 15 Aveda retail stores.

    Civello’s entrepreneurial spirit and visionary leadership has driven the growth of each of his companies. His philosophy on the “art of business” combines beauty, wellness and an unfailing commitment to environmental leadership and responsibility. He is passionate about education and continuous learning and has subsequently successfully impacted the next generation of salon professionals.

  • Karie Bennett Atelier Salon and Spa San Jose, California

    Karie has a career that is close to the thirty year mark and shows no signs of slowing. Blending her Sassoon training with private education with such industry icons as Yosh, Trevor Sorbie, and Louis Licari, as well as leadership and business mentorship, Bennett is recognized as a leader in the salon industry. Atelier SalonSpa, the Bay Area’s flagship Aveda lifestyle salon/spa is frequently awarded top honors from the Aveda Corporation, and has been the recipient of numerous awards from industry organizations.

    As an educator for Logics International, a division of Clairol Professional, Bennett taught in-salon hair color classes, demonstrated new color collections on stage at hair shows, and has also been a requested favorite for Aveda fashion shows, such as the Edun clothing launches at Nordstrom, and Eco-Chic. More recently, Bennett was the platform artist for the Mini Pro Show, held in the Bay Area.

    Since the successful opening of Atelier Lifestyle SalonSpa in 2002 at Santana Row, Bennett has found that the team atmosphere at Atelier inspires creativity, generates positive energy and brings the Aveda experience to a more authentic level for the client. These experiences have helped her develop a comprehensive advanced Protege program to hone the skills of up-and-coming new stylists, as well as train her top artists to be outstanding industry mentors.

  • Flore Morton Academy of Art San Francisco, California

    Flore Morton started to give lectures about fashion photo shoot production and the importance of self promotion at the Cinta Aveda Institute in 2010.

    She studied Fashion Design in Paris while working behind the scenes of the fashion week. She joined Hermes women ready to wear as Martin Margiela’s design assistant after her graduation, then assisted Jean-Paul Gaultier for a year, designing the accessories for the show. She learned there the essentials of designing, styling, casting and fitting.

    She moved in 2004 to San Francisco, freelancing as a fashion designer and costume designer. She joined in 2006 the Academy of Art University as a fashion design, fashion styling and fashion photography Instructor.
